Where to eat and drink
The Pioneer Park, is a great place for travellors to stop and give the kids the opportunity to release any pent up energies. The sounds of our abundant bird life can be heard as you enjoy a light lunch at the picnic tables in the park. Or gather some wood and start up one of the BBQ's to delight in a real bush experience, seated at BBQ tables with mosaic tops created by the children at the Kogan State School. These mosaics depict scenes from life in Kogan and utilise tiles resembling the colours Hugh Sawrey used in his artwork.
Across the road is the Hard Rock Cafe where drinks and light snacks can be purchased. This cafe is also our postal agency.
Kogan Hotel
Overnight rooms may be available at the Kogan Hotel. Hosts Chubb and Sharon welcome guests with a cold drink, and serve up a delicious meal. Beryl &Darkie (Nelson) Dwyer built the Kogan Hotel in 1954. Hugh painted murals around the walls of the Kogan Hotel, the last of which represented the day the document was signed for Queensland to become an independent state. Unfortunately the fate of these murals is now infamously part of our history.
